Upcoming Workshops in 2009

The workshop series has been designed to provide an overview of research methodology and its application, handling and interpreting various kinds of data, and would be an ideal introduction to practitioners seeking to gain a general understanding of the field or considering undertaking further studies. Enrolments for each Workshop will be handled separately.

  1. An Introduction to Research and Evaluation in Practice (Presentation Slides)

    (Broad overview of the research process and how to plan and conduct research projects)
  2. Introduction to Literature Searching
    Hobart: 12th, 20th & 26th March, Launceston: 25th & 26th March
    (How to do literature searches, finding & evaluating information effectively)
  3. Qualitative Research Methods-Focus Groups (Presentation Slides)
    Hobart: 3rd April
    (Provides entry-level introduction to focus groups in qualitative research and evaluation)
  4. Qualitative Research Methods-Interviews (Presentation Slides)
    Hobart
    : 17th April
    (Provides an overview of interviewing as a data collection tool for qualitative research and evaluation)
  5. Reviewing the Evidence: Literature Reviewing, Levels of Evidence, Identifying Gaps & Documenting a Search Strategy (Presentation Slides)
    Hobart: 11th May, Video link to Launceston & Burnie
    (Develope skills in literature searching, differentiating levels of evidence & documenting a search strategy)

  6. Qualitative Data Analysis (Cancelled)

    (Full day retreat for projects that are ready to be written up. Competitive entry)

    16th October 11am to 1pm (UDRH Workshop) by successful student presenters who have obtained grants &/or presented at conferences
  11. Project Management
    Launceston 24th Sept, Hobart 1st October
    (Looking at creating good project management structure for research projects and managing projects)
  12. Rigour & Research Design for Qualitative Researchers in Health
    Hobart 5th November
    (intermediate level workshop looking at rigour in research design)
